Electrolux Washing Machine Error Codes

Our updated guide for Electrolux washing machine error codes for 2025.

Owners of Electrolux washing machines swear by their outstanding cleaning and stain removal capability. These front-loading washers are renowned for being extremely well-balanced with the least vibration of most other makes.

You are no doubt enjoying the benefits of your Electrolux washer, but whatever its good points like any other appliance it will eventually develop a fault and break down.

Electrolux washing machines are made by a Swedish company which also owns Frigidaire and AEG.

Electrolux washers display a series of error codes when they are experiencing a problem or fault, which can help you discern what sort of issue has arisen. You can alert your local repair technician from Bath Domestic Appliances about which error code is being shown to help him/her diagnose and make repairs to your washing machine.

You can avoid many faults with your Electrolux washing machine by practising good maintenance according to the tips in your handbook. The first thing you should do when something goes wrong is to “troubleshoot” for oversights like whether you have overloaded the drum, not closed the door properly, entered the correct programme, or even plugged the machine into the power socket.

Here are the Electrolux washing machine and washer/dryer error codes to take note of, along with the possible causes for the code appearing:

E10

This common error code means there is a water inlet fault. It can often be solved by making sure the taps are turned on and the hoses aren’t kinked or blocked. If this doesn’t work, the water inlet valve will need to be replaced.

E11

Indicates your appliance isn’t filling with water during the washing phase of the cycle. Check the tap is turned on and there are no blockages in the hose. Alternatively, the water inlet valve may need replacing.

E12

This error code means your washer isn’t filling with water during the rinse phase. Make sure the tap is turned on and check the hoses. The water inlet valve may need replacing.

E13

This error code shows when the water level in the machine drops when it should not, indicating a possible leak. The pressure sensor may need replacing.

E20

This code means your appliance has a drain fault. Check that your drain hoses and filter aren’t blocked. If those components are clear, the drain pump may need to be replaced.

E21

This is another drain fault code. See above.

E22

This error code shows when your washing machine isn’t draining after the rinse cycle. Check that your drain hoses and filter aren’t blocked. If those components are fine, the drain pump may need to be replaced.

E23

This error code is to alert you the machine has detected an issue between the drain pump triac sensing and the triac status. The pump and wiring should be checked, and possibly the main PCB replaced.

E24

This error code indicates a fault in the sensing circuit of the drain pump triac. The best way to solve this problem is to replace the main PCB.

E25

The wrong input signal is being sent to the microprocessor in your washer, requiring the replacement of the PCB.

E31

This code means the pressure switch is faulty and needs replacing.

E32

Indicates a calibration problem with the pressure switch, which could be caused by several things, including damaged wiring, blocked hoses, a leaky inlet valve or faulty drain pump.

E35

This code shows when the pressure sensor detects a too-high water level. It will probably necessitate replacing the pressure sensor and the main PCB.

E40, E41, E42, E43, E44, E45

These codes are all associated with the door lock and could be caused by the wiring or the lock itself being faulty.

E50

This error code indicates a faulty motor, which will need to be replaced by a technician.

E60

This error code indicates a heating fault, probably caused by the temperature sensor and/or heating element being defective.

E61

Shows that the water is not heating during the wash cycle due to a problem with the heating element and the temperature sensor.

E62

This code shows when the water overheats, and means the temperature sensor could be faulty and need replacing.

EC1

When you see this code it means the main PCB is receiving a signal from the flow meter that water is entering the washing machine incorrectly. The water inlet valves may need replacing or the main PCB itself.

EF1

Tells you the drain pump, drain filter or drain tube is blocked, kinked or clogged.

EF2

Alerts you to excessive detergent dosing (excessive foam during draining). Check the drain tube and drain filter, and use less detergent.

EF4

This code shows when the flow meter does not detect any water entering the machine even though the water inlet valves are open. Check the tap is turned on, and that there are no blockages in the hoses. If all is okay the water inlet valves may need replacing.

EF5

This means an unbalanced load, and the final spin phase will be skipped. Rearrange the laundry inside.

If you live in or around the city of Bath in North East Somerset – including Bradford on Avon, Corsham, Frome, Melksham, Peasedown St John, Somerset, Trowbridge, Warminster, or Westbury – and need Electrolux washing machine repairs, get in touch with Bath Domestic Appliances.

AEG Washing Machine Error Codes

AEG washing machines, made by the Electrolux group, are known for providing great value for money with a wide range of functionality and features like a large door and a quiet spin. They also have a very efficient early warning system when things go wrong or if the machine develops faults. These warnings come in the form of alarms, flashing light sequences and the display of error codes, depending on the age and model of the washing machine you have.

AEG error codes, also known as fault codes, are extremely useful in diagnosing any problems you may have with your machine, but they don’t necessarily pinpoint exactly what part is malfunctioning or what repairs need to be made. The finer details need to be determined by a qualified, professional washing machine technician, like those at Bath Domestic Appliances.

It’s extremely unwise to try to fix your AEG washing machine yourself if you’re not an expert because you could well make the problem worse. However, it’s useful to know what all the different AEG washing machine error and fault codes mean, so that you can pass on the information to our repair technician when you call us out.

Some of these codes listed here may appear to be duplicated, but they apply to different AEG washing machine models.

C9/F9

Warns of an imbalance while the machine is spinning.

C1/E10/E11

Means the machine cannot take in water, has not taken in sufficient water, or has a drain problem.

C3/E30

Water has collected at the bottom or inside of the machine.

E40/E41

This indicates that the machine’s door is not properly closed, that the drum is overloaded with laundry or the door lock is faulty.

E60
(or any code starting with E6)

The machine has a heating problem of some sort.

E80
(or 8 LED light flashes)

This is to let you know that the machine has started with the cycle selector incorrectly set. It could be set between two different wash cycles.

E90/E91/E92/
E93/E94

These codes all suggest that there is a configuration or communication problem with the machine’s electronic components.

EAO/EA0

Tells you there is an issue with the Drum Position Sensor.

Eb0/Ebo

There is insufficient voltage from the power supply.

EF0/EFo/EF3

This may indicate there is too much detergent in use, causing over-foaming. Alternatively, it could be warning that a dirty dispenser drawer is overflowing, laundry is caught in the door seal, or there is a clogged drain filter.

EHO/EH0

Indicates a problem with the power supply.

EH1

Indicates that the frequency of the power supply is not within the set parameters (incorrect mains frequency).

EH2

Supply voltage too high.

EH3

Supply voltage too low.

C2/E20/E21

These codes point to pumping problems. The drain pump is no doubt blocked so the machine will not drain, the drum won’t turn and the machine will make a noise.

Don’t forget, if you experience any problems with your AEG washing machine, Bath Domestic Appliances are here to help. We cover the city of Bath and the surrounding area of North East Somerset, as well as a large part of West Wiltshire, including Westbury, Warminster, Trowbridge, Melksham, and Corsham. Whirlpool Washing Machine Error Codes

With their much vaunted “Zen Technology” Whirlpool washing machines boast of the quietest spin cycle on the market. This innovative make of washing machine from the United States is popular here in the UK too with a large range of built-in, freestanding top and front loading machines available.

Just like any other mechanical device a Whirlpool washing machine won’t last forever without needing repairs or parts replacement at some stage. That’s why Whirlpool washing machines have built-in fault codes which are digitally displayed when a problem is detected.

While these fault or error codes don’t indicate exactly what is wrong with your washing machine, or what particular part needs replacing or repairing, they are invaluable for troubleshooting and diagnosing malfunctions.

If your washing machine shows you any of these warning codes, call Bath Domestic Appliances and we’ll send one of our top-trained technicians to identify the problem and give you a quotation for repairs.

Note: The Error codes shown here refer to Whirlpool Front Loading Washing Machines.

F01

This code will display when the machine has come to a standstill and will not operate, or allow you to select some or all of its functions. It usually indicates a fault with the electronic circuit board.

F02

You’ll see this code when the motor circuit is malfunctioning, and the drum will not rotate during the wash cycle.

F03

When your Whirlpool washing machine fails to heat and shows this error code you can expect there is a problem with the temperature sensor.

F05

This fault code heralds a potential pump failure at worst, or hopefully it could be just a blockage in the waste water hose or pump filter. A technician will be able to isolate the cause of the fault code display, which is triggered when the machine fails to drain out the water and the door will not open.

F06

This shows that there is a drive motor tachometer error, causing the machine to shut down. It might be just a loose connection, or the control board might need replacing.

F07

This error code will show along with your Whirlpool washing machine stopping mid-cycle. At the same time the machine will fail to heat and the pump will run continuously. The problem is probably a fault with the electronic circuit board or a broken connection in the heating circuit.

F08

Similar to the problem above, this code indicates a heater fault, which will cause the wash programme to stop mid-cycle.

F09

This code is an indication of a software fault. Symptoms are that you won’t be able to select a programme and get the washing machine running.

F11

When your Whirlpool washing machine fails to pump the water out of the drum, you’ll see this code displayed, indicating a pump circuit fault.

F12

This fault code indicates an electronic fault which is preventing your machine from turning on at all, but you’ll need an expert to diagnose where exactly the fault lies.

F13

This error code applies to Whirlpool washer-dryers, and indicates a dryer temperature sensing fault.

F15

This fault code will show on either Whirlpool washing machines or washer-dryers when the water fails to heat up during a wash cycle, or a there is no heat during the drying cycle. It indicates a malfunction of the heater control unit.

Repair technicians from Bath Domestic Appliances provide cost-effective washing machine repairs across the city of Bath and the surrounding area of northeast Somerset. We also operate in West Wiltshire, covering Westbury, Warminster, Bradford-on-Avon, Trowbridge, Corsham and nearby villages.

Candy Washing Machine Error Codes

If you notice any error codes flashing on your Candy washing machine, it’s time to call in the professionals at Bath Domestic Appliances to fix your machine before the problem escalates.

Error codes are there to warn you when something is malfunctioning on your washing machine. They don’t necessarily pinpoint exactly where the problem is, but they certainly do help with diagnosing and fixing a fault or any broken or worn parts that need replacing.

Candy washing machines are extremely popular, made in Italy by the same company that makes Hoover washing machines.

Here is a list of Candy washing machine and washer/dryer error codes. Take note if your machine shows one of these codes and pass it on to our technicians so we’ll have an idea of what is wrong with your washing machine when we come to repair it in or around the city of Bath, across north Somerset or west Wiltshire.

E1

Indicates a door lock issue. It could be the lock itself malfunctioning, or a problem with the wiring and connection to the PCB.

E2

You’ll see this code when the machine stops taking in water. The cause could be a blocked or obstructed fill hose, an insufficient water supply or faulty valves.

E3

This means the machine is not draining, and probably means the pump is blocked or broken.

E4

The drum has overfilled. This is probably due to a defective fill valve.

E5

This error code indicates a problem with the water temperature sensor, which means the water in the drum fails to heat up.

E6

If you see this code when the machine stops spinning it indicates that the machine is unbalanced, or that there is a fault with the control board.

E7

When this code is displayed the machine will be failing to spin either because of a faulty door lock or a jammed motor.

E8

This code indicates the motor speed sensor is malfunctioning. The motor could be spinning too fast, or not at all.

E9

This code indicates a problem with the motor triac on the circuit board, which controls the speed of the washing machine’s motor.

E10

When you see this code it means your machine has a drum sensor issue. On an old machine it could mean a problem with the selector.

E11

There are two possibilities if you see this code: it could mean the dryer heater has an open circuit, or there could be an issue with the sensor or module.

E12

This signifies that there is a possible PCB (Printed Circuit Board) communication error, or an open circuit on the dryer heater.

E13/E14/E18

Any of these codes suggest there is an issue with the PCB (Printed Circuit Board).

E15

An indication that the PCB programming has failed, or the memory chip has become corrupted.

E16

When you see this code prepare yourself for a heater problem that will probably need the replacement of the heater, because your fuse box will continually trip out.

E17

There’s a problem with the motor tachometer signal, which could stop the motor from turning.

Bosch Washing Machine Error Codes

Bosch washing machines have a great reputation across Bath and the South West for delivering reliable and long-lasting service. Each machine comes with a host of features and benefits that have elevated the laundry process.

However, from time-to-time malfunctions can happen that can cause your Bosch washing machine to not perform to its fullest potential. These malfunctions will show themselves in error codes that will appear on the display screen of your washing machine. No matter which model of Bosch washing machine you have, at Bath Domestic Appliances, we have put together a quick guide on the most common error codes and what they mean.

E16 / F16

This error code means that the washing machine door is open. To solve this problem, open and close the door firmly, even if it appears that the door is closed originally.

E17 / F17

This error code signifies that the water supply time has exceeded. To resolve this issue, turn the tap valve of the washing machine.

E18 / F18

This particular error code means that the pump time has exceeded. To rectify this issue, reset the machine by turning it off and on again. You may find you need to turn the machine off by the power switch.

E19 / F19

This error code means that the heating time has exceeded. There is no solution that you can do personally and would need to contact a professional engineer.

E20 / F20

To receive this error code means there is unexpected heating. To fix this issue, you will need to reset the washing machine by switching it off and on. You may need to do this from the power source.

E23 / F23

This error code means the aquastop is activated. This means that there is likely to be water in the base of the washer. This issue can only be resolved with a professional engineer.

E25 / F25

To see error code E25/F25 means that the turbidity sensor is faulty. The turbidity sensor is what checks the quality of water in the machine. This can only be resolved by contacting a professional engineer.

E26 / F26

This error code signifies the analogue pressure sensor is faulty. This is an issue related to the water levels in the machine. Unfortunately, this problem cannot be resolved with a quick fix and will require a professional engineer.

F27

This particular error code means the pressure sensor is faulty. This is an issue related to the water levels in the machine. Unfortunately, this problem cannot be resolved with a quick fix and will require a professional engineer.

E28 / F28

This error code relates to the flow sensor and signifying it is faulty. This is an issue related to the water levels in the machine. Unfortunately, this problem cannot be resolved with a quick fix and will require a professional engineer.

Why won’t my washing machine door open

There’s nothing more frustrating and inconvenient, surely, than finding your washing machine door has jammed closed after finishing a load of laundry! Not only are you in a hurry to extract your clean, wet clothes to get them dry, but it is also a sign that something has gone wrong with the machine.

The first thing to do is take a deep breath, try to stay calm and turn the washing machine off at the plug point for safety’s sake. The initial instinct will be to force the door open – whether with brute force or using a prising tool of some kind (we once had a repair job where the client had used a crowbar to “jimmy” the washing machine door open).

This, of course, may well work – but only at the cost of completely destroying the washing machine door lock and mechanism, and probably also damaging the structure of the door itself, and the door seal. It could also result in a big clean-up job if – as is quite likely with a faulty washing machine – the drum is still full of water that will come gushing out when you force the door open.

For fast, friendly, affordable and reliable repairs to your Beko washing machine just give us a call on 01225 461 711 (for Bath Beko repairs), or 01373 827 929 (for Westbury Beko repairs).

What to do if your Washing Machine Door is Stuck

As already mentioned, there well may be water in the drum of the washing machine, even if it has stopped running. You should be able to see this through the viewing window.

Most models of washing machines will not allow the door catch to be released while water is detected in the drum, so the thing to do is to see if you can drain the drum, and check the drain filters to make sure there is no obstruction preventing the water from draining out of the machine.

If there is a blockage in the drain filter (usually located at the bottom of the machine in the front panel) clearing it is easy if messy – just twist it out, clean it off and deal with the deluge of water that will be released. Another way you could drain the machine is to lay the drain hose on the floor so that gravity will cause the water to run out.

If you succeed in draining the water out you should be able to open the door. To check that you’ve solved the problem, put the machine on a short cycle to see if it is going to run as normal and release the door on schedule.

Dealing with a Washing Machine Door Jam

If there’s no water in the machine but the door is stuck, then it is likely your washer has developed a fault with the door mechanism, and you’ll need a repair technician to sort it out. The cause of the door jam can be different depending on the make and model of the washing machine.

If you want to retrieve your laundry from the machine in a hurry, before a repair crew can get to you, you could try turning off the power at the plug and leave the machine to stand for a few minutes. The door lock may then open for you.

This will work if there is a fault with the pressure switch, which fails to reset and release the lock.

Washing machines are fitted with a safety device called the interlock, which engages when the wash cycle begins preventing the door from being opened mid-cycle. It should disengage minutes after the wash cycle finishes. If the interlock is faulty the door will remain locked. It may have become damaged, or the machine could have overheated, causing the interlock circuits to fail.

A jammed washing machine door need not spell the end of life for your hard-working washing machine! Indeed, it is likely to be caused by a relatively small fault that can be fixed inexpensively by a professional repairer in no time.

Our best advice is therefore to call on Bath Domestic Appliances for assistance when your washing machine door won’t open. We’ll be happy to help and get your laundry up to date quickly and efficiently.

Our technicians can repair any model of Beko washer, and over the years we have experienced – and fixed – just about any and all the problems that Beko owners encounter with their washing machines.

The most common faults with the Beko washing machine are:

  • The door fails to release and won’t open;
  • The water won’t drain out;
  • The machine is not spinning;
  • The drum is not turning;
  • The machine is leaking;
  • The machine is stuck on a cycle and won’t advance to the next;
  • Clothes are not properly rinsed.

Most of these faults are relatively easy to fix or simply require a replacement part.

Beko Washing Machine Error Codes

If your Beko washing machine has a digital display you will probably notice that an error code becomes visible when the machine is faulty. While these codes do not indicate precisely what is wrong with your washing machine, they do help to indicate where the problem might lie.

It helps if you can tell us when you call for assistance with your Beko washing machine which error code is being displayed, so we can be fully prepared to diagnose and fix the fault. For instance, if there is an E1 error there could be an issue with the wiring or thermistor.

Older Beko washing machines may not display error codes, but we can still use tests and devices to detect problems and remedy them, and have your washing spinning again in no time.

For a Beko breakdown in anywhere around Bath or Westbury don’t hesitate to contact us as soon as possible so we can dispatch our repair technicians to make immediate repairs.

Why Does My Washing Machine Smell So Bad?

Why Does Why Washing Machine Smell?

WHY DOES MY WASHING MACHINE SMELL BAD?

Every household depends on its washing machine to not only render our clothes and linens clean, but we also expect everything to smell clean and fragrant when we open the washing machine door.

Unfortunately, very often instead of a pleasant fresh aroma, the machine gives off a horrid stench like rotten eggs, sewage or the stink of mould and mildew.

Smelly washing machines are an issue that our washing machine repair engineers at Bath Domestic Appliances are often called in to investigate by baffled and distressed owners of hard-working washing machines so we thought we’d explain where the smell comes from, how to stop the machine from smelling and how to prevent your washing machine from becoming odiferous.

What Causes a Washing Machine to Smell Bad?

Generally, it is a build-up of bacteria and mould in one or more of the parts that make your washing machine emanate an unpleasant odour. It’s a problem most likely associated with machines that are used often on a low-temperature cycle, which is the usual case nowadays when most of us wash our clothes at 40°C or below to save on energy bills and be environmentally friendly. Low temperatures, coupled with a humid environment inside the machine, allowing bacteria and mould to thrive and multiply in your wet washing and inside the washing machine.

The bacteria buildup commonly occurs in washing machine parts like the filter, heating elements, door seal, detergent dispenser, hose, drum or drain.

How do you Get Rid of a Bad Smell in Your Washing Machine?

Ironically the answer to this question is that you should clean your washing machine.

Many modern washing machines have a special hot wash programme for cleaning out a machine – consult the manufacturer’s manual to check what is recommended for your make and model, whether it is a front loader or a top loading washing machine. If there isn’t a designated service wash then just run the machine through the hottest available cycle without any washing in the drum, using soda crystals instead of detergent, or a commercially available washing machine cleaner preparation.

You need to also make sure the filter is as clean as a whistle, and thoroughly wash out the detergent drawer and the inside of the door seal (including the rubber folds).

If your machine is still smelly after this try using a drain cleaner on the drain pipe. If all else fails then call in a washing machine repair professional for help before you decide to throw in the towel and get a new washing machine.

How to Prevent Your Washing Machine from Smelling Bad

Your washing machine is one of the most frequently used appliances in the home, and it’s easy to expect it to just go on working with little or no maintenance.

All it needs to prevent the machine from developing an unpleasant smell – which can permeate through the whole home if it becomes bad enough – is to make sure you clean it regularly using the procedure described above. Most manufacturers recommend you do a thorough clean of the filter and detergent dispenser and run a hot service wash at least once a month.

It’s also wise to leave the door open when the machine is not in use so it has a chance to dry out, giving mould and bacteria no opportunity to fester and grow in the drum and door seal.

Never leave a load of damp or wet washing shut in the machine for hours after the cycle is complete – try to remove the washing within around 15 minutes of the machine stopping.
